Treatment Information
Most people explore therapy with specific challenges in mind. I utilize many years of specialized experience and training to effectively support clients with a wide range of concerns.
That being said, my knowledge and experience is always in service to supporting clients with the human condition- an innate desire to be connected with others, engaged in meaningful contribution, and to live our lives with joy and resiliency.
Read on to learn more about various specializations and the treatment modalities that inform my work.
The Human Condition
- an innate desire to be connected with others, engaged in meaningful work, and to live our lives with joy and resiliency.
When we are feeling disconnected from ourselves and others, we begin to function in troubling ways.
From a place of hurt, we may hurt ourselves or others.
What was once casual, social drinking or smoking turns into a habit that feels a bit excessive.
You are losing your patience with your kids.
Something is off in your relationship with your significant other, and you don’t know what to do about it.
You are feeling depressed or anxious much of the time.
You are feeling conflicted or confused about what direction to take.
I offer depth-oriented therapy meaning I am always interested in what is under the surface influencing clients’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. When we are able to effectively repair the places within ourselves that have been hurt or underdeveloped, healing can happen rather organically. That being said, engaging with the world differently can initially be new and disorienting, and I offer support with this as well.

Treatment Modalities
Grounded in research, therapeutic treatment modalities are approaches used to improve a client’s overall well-being. I continue to expand as a therapist by frequently participating in continued education opportunities.
In addition to 20 years in the field, I have invested in intensive specialized training, specifically related to family of origin and trauma work:
The NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) for treatment of Developmental and Complex Trauma (120+ hours of in person training)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for treatment of trauma (50 hours of training)
Internal Family Systems (IFS) also known as "Parts Work"
Emotionally Focused Therapy for use with couples, informed greatly by Attachment Theory
